Summary: The Queens Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, a short term rehab institution managed by the Centers for Specialty Care Group, is inviting the community to join its annual MasquerWalk A Thon for Breast Cancer awareness.
Goblins and ghouls alike are invited to visit the Queens Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 to attend the annual MasquerWalk A Thon, a free event for Breast Cancer awareness. Located in front of the long and short term rehab facility at 157-15 19th Ave. in Whitestone, N.Y., the MasquerWalk A Thon will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a free party for all ages featuring refreshments, rides, prizes, and more.
"The MasquerWalk A Thon is a chance for Queens Center residents, family members, and staff, in addition to local politicians, students, neighbors, and attendees representing the American Cancer Society, to come together to support a terrific cause. We'll be giving away a prize to everyone who shows up in costume, so we're encouraging members of the community to bring their hats, masks, capes, and brooms," said Kenneth Rozenberg, the CEO of the Centers for Specialty Care Group, an NYC nursing home network which encompasses the Queens Center.
Providing a little something for everyone, the MasquerWalk A Thon will also include face-painting, raffles, arts and crafts activities, and live music. Representatives from the American Cancer Society will be in attendance to support the cause and provide information on additional ways to get involved in the fight against cancer.
Part of Centers for Specialty Care Group, a comprehensive NYC rehab center network, the Queens Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare features a renowned hip and knees program, as well as 24-hour skilled nursing and a dedicated subacute short term rehab staff. The subacute program is an alternative to full-day (acute) rehabilitation, providing support to patients in recovery from orthopedic injuries and other intensive conditions, in addition to patients that are wrapping up their rehabilitation and have only specialized training to complete. For added convenience, the Queens Center provides a free transportation program for friends and family members on weekdays.
Along with the Queens Center, Centers for Specialty Care Group offers a number of long and short term rehab facilities in the New York area, from the nearby Bronx nursing home locations on Grand, Underhill, and Tomlinson Avenues to the tranquil Rome and Chittenango Centers in Madison and Oneida County.

The Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare invites members of the community to join them at the opening of the all-new Boro Park Shul. Attendees of the free event will enjoy an uplifting Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebration lead by the world-renowned Yeshiva Boys Choir, as well as appearances by other surprise guests, free gifts for all and many other surprises. The celebration will occur just in time for the festival of Succos.
The event will run from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, in front of the facility’s location at 4915 10th Avenue in Brooklyn, N.Y. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so guests are urged to arrive to the simcha on time and excited to enjoy a terrific show.
The shul was the brainchild of Jeremy B. Strauss and Kenneth Rozenberg, Executive Director and CEO of Centers for Specialty Care Group, respectively. To bring the neighborhood together, Strauss and Rozenberg recognized the need to build a facility welcome to all. What resulted was a magnificent shul near Maimonides Hospital that will serve a wide spiritual demographic, enabling individuals of all backgrounds to unite as a community. An exciting opening performance Yeshiva Boys Choir will help to set a joyous note for a resource that should serve Boro Park for years to come.
"Our organization has always responded to the needs of the community - the shul at Boro Park Center is a place of worship for residents and neighbors, and a place of hope for the community. We thought Succos was an excellent time to launch this wonderful new place of worship,” said Strauss.
The Boro Park Center, part of the Centers for Specialty Care Group, is one of the group’s newest NYC nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, and specializes in long- and short term rehab, bariatric recovery, and hip and knee rehabilitation, among other specialty treatments. The Centers for Specialty Care Group was conceived as a way to help the community and meet its needs, and the all-new Boro Park Shul reflects an extension of that goal.
"Centers for Specialty Care Group prides itself on servicing the needs of the community. At the Boro Park Center, we understand that one of those needs is a new shul, and therefore made building one a priority," said Rozenberg.
